Acer Unveils Swift 16 AI with Intel Panther Lake at IFA 2025
At IFA 2025 in Berlin, Acer provided an exclusive preview of the upcoming Swift 16 AI, one of the first laptops to feature Intel’s next-generation "Panther Lake" processors. The showcased model was powered by a Panther Lake chip built on Intel’s advanced 18A process node, signaling a significant leap in performance and efficiency for ultrathin notebooks.
Cutting-Edge Display and Connectivity
The Swift 16 AI is equipped with a 16-inch 3K OLED display, offering vibrant visuals and a smooth 120 Hz refresh rate. This high-resolution panel is designed to deliver an immersive viewing experience for both productivity and entertainment. The laptop supports up to 32 GB of LPDDR5X memory, ensuring fast multitasking and responsiveness for demanding applications.
Modern connectivity is a key focus, with support for Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6, providing faster wireless speeds and improved reliability. Select configurations will include two USB-C ports with Thunderbolt 4, alongside legacy options such as USB-A, HDMI, a headphone jack, and a microSD card slot, catering to a wide range of user needs.
Innovative Design and User Experience
Acer has introduced a significant redesign with the Swift 16 AI, featuring what the company describes as the largest haptic trackpad in its class. This expansive trackpad not only enhances navigation but also supports active stylus input, allowing users to write or draw directly on the touch surface—a feature rarely found in mainstream laptops. The larger trackpad has led to a refreshed keyboard layout and a subtly updated chassis design. Some configurations are expected to weigh under 1 kg, making the Swift 16 AI exceptionally portable.
Intel Partnership and Future Availability
The collaboration between Acer and Intel was highlighted during the event, with Intel’s head of consumer CPUs, Jim Johnson, emphasizing the significance of the Swift 16 AI as one of the first devices to leverage Intel’s most advanced CPU architecture. While detailed storage options and full performance specifications remain under wraps, Acer confirmed that the Swift 16 AI is scheduled for release towards the end of 2025. Intel’s Panther Lake platform is set to receive broader exposure at CES 2026.
