XMG APEX 17 Launches with NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 and 12 GB VRAM

The XMG APEX 17 has become the first laptop in XMG’s lineup to feature the next-generation NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 graphics card, equipped with 12 GB of GDDR7 VRAM—an upgrade from the previous 8 GB. Announced at Computex 2026, this new configuration joins the existing APEX 17 model powered by the AMD Ryzen 9 9955HX and RTX 5060, which continues to serve as the entry-level option. All other core specifications, including the robust chassis, expansive 17.3-inch display, and comprehensive connectivity, remain unchanged.

Performance Upgrades: RTX 5070 and Ryzen 9 9955HX

The latest XMG APEX 17 (M25) introduces the highly anticipated NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 with 12 GB of VRAM, while maintaining the same model designation as its predecessor. Both the RTX 5060 and RTX 5070 variants share identical chassis, display, and internal specifications, with the GPU being the only differentiator. The laptop continues to utilize the AMD Ryzen 9 9955HX processor, offering 16 cores and 32 threads—one of AMD’s fastest laptop CPUs outside the premium X3D series.

The RTX 5070 operates at a maximum TGP of 115 W, including Dynamic Boost, delivering enhanced performance for demanding AAA games and local AI workloads. The increased 12 GB graphics memory allows for higher texture quality and improved graphics detail, making the APEX 17 a strong choice for both gamers and creators.

Design and Build Quality

The XMG APEX 17 maintains its sturdy build, featuring a 17.3-inch chassis measuring 402 × 265 × 28.6 mm and weighing approximately 2.8 kg with a 73 Wh battery. The aluminium display lid adds extra durability and stability, ensuring the laptop is both portable and resilient.

High-Resolution 17.3-inch WQHD Display

The laptop is equipped with a 17.3-inch WQHD IPS display, offering a 16:9 aspect ratio and a resolution of 2,560 × 1,440 pixels. The panel covers 100% of both DCI-P3 and sRGB color spaces, making it ideal for content creation and professional workflows. With a 240 Hz refresh rate and an optional 60 Hz power-saving mode, users can enjoy smooth visuals tailored to their needs.

A MUX switch enables the internal display to be directly connected to the high-performance NVIDIA dGPU. The integrated Full HD webcam features temporal noise reduction and a physical privacy shutter for added security.

Memory and Storage Expansion

The XMG APEX 17 supports up to 128 GB of DDR5-5600 RAM via two SO-DIMM slots and up to 16 TB of SSD storage through two M.2 PCIe 4.0 slots. Enhanced thermal pads help maintain optimal temperatures and consistent performance. Due to current memory supply constraints, only 48 GB RAM modules are temporarily available through bestware.com.

Comprehensive Connectivity and Input Options

The laptop offers a wide range of connectivity options. On the rear, users will find an HDMI 2.1 port (48 Gbit/s), a USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 port with DisplayPort 1.4, a Gigabit Ethernet port, and the power connector. The sides feature a USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 port with DisplayPort 2.1 and DP40 (supporting 100 W Power Delivery), two USB-A ports (3.2 Gen 2 and 3.2 Gen 1), and a 2-in-1 audio jack. Wireless connectivity is provided by Wi-Fi 6E.

This configuration allows the APEX 17 to drive up to three external monitors in addition to its internal display. The HDMI and DisplayPort 2.1-capable USB-C ports are directly connected to the NVIDIA dGPU, while the DisplayPort 1.4-capable USB-C port is linked to the AMD iGPU, with NVIDIA Optimus managing GPU switching for optimal performance and efficiency.

The keyboard features a full-size numeric keypad, full-size arrow keys, Fn-Lock, and customizable multicolor LED backlighting. A spacious 150 × 90 mm glass-like touchpad ensures precise and comfortable input.
