Hardware Unboxed has discovered that the latest Adrenalin drivers could pose a challenge for the upcoming GeForce RTX 5070 SUPER. They found that the Radeon RX 9070 XT experienced a 9% increase in raster performance at 1440p compared to review press drivers. This narrows the performance gap with the current GeForce RTX 5070 Ti, potentially making the RX 9070 XT faster than any SKU NVIDIA plans to position between the RTX 5070 and RTX 5070 Ti. The comparison of current drivers to review press drivers for both the RX 9070 XT and RTX 5070 Ti is part of a feature by Hardware Unboxed.

Across 16 games, the RX 9070 XT with the latest drivers showed a 9% performance improvement over review press drivers, while the RTX 5070 Ti with the latest drivers only saw a 2.5% performance increase. This 9% gain for the RX 9070 XT puts it ahead of the RTX 5070 Ti. Both GPUs are capable of gaming at 4K with some settings adjusted. In the same 16 games, the RTX 5070 Ti saw a 3% performance increase, while the RX 9070 XT saw a 4% improvement, resulting in a tie between the two GPUs. Specific game tests showed significant performance improvements for the RX 9070 XT, with "Counter Strike 2" showing a 23% increase, "Spider-Man Remastered" with a 27% boost, and "Hogwarts Legacy" with an 18% gain for AMD.
