Best of Steam Games for 2021
Steam has recently revealed the complete list of Best of Steam games for this year, covering various categories. While there aren't many surprising entries, it's great to see that some indie games have also made it to the list. The categories include Top Sellers, New Releases, Most Played, Early Access, Steam Deck, Controller, and VR.
Top Sellers
The Top Seller list features some notable titles such as Baldur's Gate 3 from Larian Studios, which is also the Game of the Year winner. Other top sellers include Hogwarts Legacy, DOTA 2, Counter Strike 2, Cyberpunk 2077, Starfield, Lost Ark, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III, Apex Legends, PUBG Battlegrounds, Destiny 2, and Sons of the Forest.
New Releases
The New Releases category, measured by gross revenue, includes Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon, Cities: Skylines II, Resident Evil 4, Payday 3, Remnant II, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, FC 24, as well as some titles that are also top sellers like Starfield, Baldur's Gate 3, Hogwarts Legacy, and Sons of the Forest.
Most Played
The Most Played category, measured by peak concurrent players, is mostly dominated by free-to-play titles like Destiny 2, Lost Ark, Apex Legends, DOTA 2, PUBG Battlegrounds, and Counter Strike 2. However, it also includes Starfield, Hogwarts Legacy, Baldur's Gate 3, and Sons of the Forest, all of which have over 300k peak players.
Early Access
Several titles performed well in the Early Access category, including Everspace 2, Baldur's Gate 3, Wartales, and others.
Steam Deck
The Steam Deck category is particularly interesting, as it is measured by daily active players. It includes familiar and popular titles like Starfield, Baldur's Gate 3, Resident Evil 4, Elden Ring, Hogwarts Legacy, Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, and Cyberpunk 2077. Additionally, Half-Life and Skyrim, which are great games that have regained popularity thanks to Steam Deck, are also on the list.
VR
The VR list features Half-Life Alyx, Skyrim VR, Pavlov, Ghosts of Tabor, Beat Sabre, VTOL VR, and some other games.
