Corsair has introduced the MP600 Micro, an M.2 NVMe SSD in the M.2-2242 form-factor, which is slightly larger than the MP600 Mini M.2-2230 drive designed for handheld devices, and almost half the length of a regular MP600 series M.2-2280 drive. Corsair states that the drive will be beneficial for devices like the Legion Go handheld, as most PCs, notebooks, and handhelds with an M.2-2280 slot can support mounting for M.2-2242. This drive may indicate a growing trend for DRAMless drives that result in wasted PCB space in the M.2-2280 form-factor.

The MP600 Micro utilizes a PCI-Express 4.0 x4 host interface, providing sequential transfer rates of up to 5100 MB/s for reads and up to 4300 MB/s for writes. The company also claims up to 600,000 IOPS QD32 random reads and up to 890,000 IOPS QD32 random writes, as measured with IOmeter. The drive has a capacity of 1 TB, a rating of 600 TBW endurance, and combines a Phison E21 series controller with Micron 176-layer 3D TLC NAND flash memory. The drive is currently priced at $70 on Amazon.
