SilverStone Unveils FLP02: A Retro-Inspired ATX Full-Tower Case with Modern Features
SilverStone has announced the launch of the FLP02, a full-tower ATX case that blends retro aesthetics with contemporary functionality. Designed for PC enthusiasts who appreciate both classic design elements and modern hardware compatibility, the FLP02 stands out with its unique combination of features.
Classic Design Meets Modern Engineering
The SilverStone FLP02 pays homage to vintage PC cases with its fully detachable 3.5-inch and 5.25-inch drive bays. The 5.25-inch bay covers are styled to resemble classic floppy disk drives (FDDs), and can be removed to accommodate actual FDDs or optical disc drives. While the case does not include a 5.25-inch to 3.5-inch external bay adapter, the modular drive bay design offers flexibility for users who want to install legacy hardware.
Distinctive Front Panel Features
The front panel of the FLP02 is divided into two sections. The main section features an AT-style power switch, designed to mimic the tactile feel of vintage PCs, though it functions more like a modern doorbell switch. For added security, a physical lock can disconnect the power switch. The panel also includes a standard reset button and a turbo button, which overrides the motherboard’s fan PWM signal to run system fans at full speed. A two-digit segment display provides real-time feedback on fan duty cycle.
Above the topmost 5.25-inch bay, a concealed door reveals a modern front I/O panel. Connectivity options include a USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C port (10 Gbps), two USB 3.2 Type-A ports, and a 4-pole headset jack, ensuring compatibility with the latest peripherals.
Spacious Interior and Flexible Storage
Inside, the FLP02 offers ample space for high-performance components. With the drive cages removed, the case supports graphics cards up to 38.6 cm in length; with the lower 3.5-inch drive cages installed, GPU clearance is 27.9 cm. CPU coolers up to 18.2 cm in height are supported, catering to a wide range of air and liquid cooling solutions.
The case provides seven standard expansion slots and two vertical slots for flexible GPU mounting. Storage options include three detachable 5.25-inch bays, two internal 3.5-inch bays (both detachable), two additional 3.5-inch bays in the lower compartment, and two 2.5-inch mounts behind the motherboard tray.
Advanced Cooling and Radiator Support
For optimal airflow, the FLP02 supports two 120 mm front intake fans, one 140 mm rear exhaust fan, and either three 120 mm or two 160 mm top exhaust fans. The top panel can accommodate a 360 mm or 280 mm radiator, making the case suitable for high-end liquid cooling setups.
Dimensions and Availability
The SilverStone FLP02 measures 232 mm (width) x 494 mm (height) x 472 mm (depth), offering a spacious yet manageable footprint for a full-tower chassis. While SilverStone has not yet announced pricing, the FLP02 is positioned as a compelling option for users seeking a blend of retro style and modern PC case features.
