Maxsun Unveils Single-Slot Liquid-Cooled Dual Arc B60 GPU for High-Density AI Workstations

Maxsun, a leading Chinese GPU manufacturer, has introduced an innovative dual Arc B60 GPU solution featuring advanced liquid cooling in a single-slot form factor. This new graphics card delivers the performance of two GPUs within the width of a single PCIe slot, setting a new standard for high-density computing in AI and research environments.

Dual GPU Design with Exceptional Memory Capacity

The latest Maxsun board integrates two Arc Pro B60 GPUs, each equipped with 24 GB of memory, resulting in a total of 48 GB per card. This substantial memory capacity is designed to meet the demands of modern AI workloads, enabling the processing of large-scale models with hundreds of billions of parameters directly on local workstations.

Maxsun envisions these dual-GPU modules as foundational components for dense inference workstations. By installing up to four of these 48 GB boards in a single system, users can achieve an impressive 192 GB of aggregate video memory. This configuration is ideal for AI startups, research labs, and organizations requiring powerful, scalable compute and memory resources.

Innovative Cooling and System Integration

Maxsun offers two versions of the dual Arc B60 GPU: a conventional two-slot blower-cooled model and a groundbreaking single-slot liquid-cooled edition. The liquid-cooled variant utilizes a custom waterblock developed in collaboration with abee, a respected PC cooling specialist. This approach ensures efficient thermal management, even in compact, high-density workstation builds.

The blower-cooled card features a full-height design, measures over 30 cm in length, and employs a lateral blower for effective heat dissipation. Both models draw auxiliary power through a 12V-2x6 pin connector rated for up to 600 watts, supporting demanding AI and compute workloads.

Advanced Connectivity and PCIe Architecture

Each GPU on the board provides independent display outputs, including one DisplayPort 2.1 and one HDMI 2.1b connector per GPU. Notably, Maxsun has eliminated the need for a PCI Express bridge chip by leveraging the BMG G21 silicon’s native PCIe 5.0 x8 host interface. This design splits the lanes across the x16 edge connector, similar to the architecture used in M.2 NVMe riser adapters. The result is simplified board routing and enhanced scalability for memory pooling across multiple GPUs.

Maxsun also references support for CPU-level coherency features introduced with PCIe Gen 5 and CXL, aligning with Intel’s Project Battlematrix. These advancements further optimize system performance and resource sharing in multi-GPU configurations.

Targeted Solutions for AI and Research

While pricing and availability details have not yet been announced, Maxsun indicates that these dual Arc B60 GPU boards will be offered in purpose-built systems tailored for AI startups and research institutions. The company also suggests compatibility with workstation-class W790 motherboards, expanding options for professional users seeking high-performance, scalable GPU solutions.
