AMD Ryzen 5 9600X3D Processor

AMD is finalizing the development of the Ryzen 5 9600X3D processor, which is expected to enhance the company's position in the mid-range market, competing against Intel's Core i5-14600K and Core Ultra 5 245K processors. The existence of the Ryzen 5 9600X3D was revealed when AMD accidentally included the SKU in its processor support list for the recently released Radeon AI R9700 graphics card. This upcoming processor is anticipated to feature a 6-core/12-thread configuration based on the "Granite Ridge" silicon architecture with 3D V-Cache memory technology, utilizing the latest "Zen 5" microarchitecture.

The 3D V-Cache technology incorporates 64 MB of stacked cache in addition to the existing 32 MB on-die cache, resulting in a total of 96 MB last-level cache. It is speculated that the clock speeds of the 9600X3D will be similar to those of the 9600X, as AMD has reconfigured the way the 3D V-Cache die interacts with the CPU complex die, providing comparable thermal and overclocking capabilities to the standard 9600X. The introduction of 3D V-Cache is expected to significantly enhance the gaming performance of the 9600X3D compared to the 9600X, offering gamers in the sub-$300 processor market segment a compelling alternative to Intel's i5-14600K and 245K processors.
